When moving from a different link management platform, you will export the links into a file and then upload that file to Rebrandly.
Be aware of what you can and cannot bring into Rebrandly. Also, check your subscription plan for import and link limits. You cannot import more links than your plan allows. Visit our pricing page for details.
Data that cannot be imported and should remain in the original platform include:
Generic links that begin with a domain you do not own, like bit.ly.
Historical click data or other analytics.
Notes or other fields unique to the original platform.
Duplicate links.
Custom links with special characters.
Original QR Codes.
Retargeting pixels or scripts attached to the links.
Data that you can import in your file:
Links using a custom domain that you own through a domain provider.
The custom back half of each link.
URL parameters in your destination links, like UTMs and query parameters.
You'll be able to re-create tags and retargeting scripts during the import.
To import links from another URL shortener:
Export your existing custom links from the original platform. Check the documentation for your current product and download the links into a CSV file.
Edit your downloaded CSV file and save it in the required format. See: How should I format my CSV file for importing links?
Add your domain to Rebrandly, but skip the steps to update your DNS settings. We want to do that later so that the links remain functioning on the original platform until they're imported. See: How do I add a domain to Rebrandly?
Now that your domain is available when importing, follow the steps in How do I create links in bulk?
After your links are imported, you can continue to the DNS settings steps to point to Rebrandly's servers:
It could take time for the DNS changes to propagate across the Internet. Your links will continue functioning during the migration process.
Before the DNS change, your links work through your previous provider.
During DNS propagation, some users reach your old provider, others reach Rebrandly (both work).
After DNS propagation, all links work through Rebrandly.
After importing, you can edit the links to add titles, tags, and other metadata from your links list page.
