Why was my link blocked or deleted?

Rebrandly has safeguards to ensure that our links are not used for spam, phishing, or illegal activities. If we determine that a link in your account violates our Terms of Use, we will block it. Rebrandly links may also be flagged or blocked due to third-party security vendor reports or issues with non-functional links. These measures ensure the safety and integrity of our platform.

How we check links for safety

We partner with leading internet safety organizations, such as the Internet Watch Foundation and IQ Abuse Manager, to programmatically identify and take down links that abuse our services.

Common Reasons for Link Blocking or Flagging

  1. Violations of Terms of Service

    • Links redirecting to illegal or restricted content, such as online gambling sites in regions where gambling is prohibited, may be blocked. Rebrandly enforces these restrictions to comply with local laws and its policies.

    • Accounts violating the Terms of Use, such as creating abusive or malicious links, may face suspension, link deactivation, and subscription cancellation.

  2. Flagging by third-party security vendors

    • Third-party security services may flag branded domains or links as malicious based on traffic patterns, user reports, or automated signals. Even legitimate destinations can be flagged if they appear suspicious to these systems.

Any time a link is created or edited with Rebrandly, we automatically check if it raises flags for spam, malware, or illegal content. If a link is determined as a risk, it will be blocked.

The blocking of a link is also for the protection of our users, as your entire domain name can be suspended or banned if it is believed to violate Domain Name Registry rules.

Preventative measures

  • Avoid creating links to restricted or illegal content, especially in regions with specific legal restrictions.

  • Regularly monitor your domain’s reputation using multi-vendor scanners.

  • Maintain good link hygiene by ensuring all destination URLs are safe and legitimate.

  • Follow Rebrandly’s Terms of Service to avoid account suspension or link deactivation.
