Why aren't my links working?

Here are some things to check when your links are broken.

Check your domain

Go to the Domains page in the navigation menu to check your domain status.

  • Domains purchased through Rebrandly - We are a third-party domain reseller. If you purchase a custom domain through Rebrandly, you'll receive an email from Tucows/OpenSRS with the subject “WHOIS privacy validation"—be sure to check your spam folder if you haven't seen it. You must verify your email address using the message sent to your inbox.

If you don’t complete the email verification for a Rebrandly/Tucows domain within 15 days, your domain will be suspended as required by law. If you can’t find the email, contact our support team through the chat below, and we’ll help you reactivate your domain.

  • Domains purchased outside of Rebrandly - If your custom domain was purchased through a provider like GoDaddy or name.com, log in to your domain provider and check the status of your account, billing, and DNS settings. If the account is deactivated for any reason, the links will not work. After setting up and connecting the domain, it can take 24 hours for the connection to complete.

Check if your account is in good standing

Your account can be suspended for non-payment or creating links that have breached our Terms of Use.

  • Payment issues - Log in and check your payment method and billing activity by clicking your profile > Settings > Payment method.

  • Account suspension - If you cannot log in to your account, it may have been suspended for breaching our Terms of Use. This will happen if our services are used to distribute spam, illegal content, or engage in unlawful activities. For more details, see Why is my account suspended?

Check your links

Check your Links page to verify the link is active and correct.

  • Deleted link - If a link was deleted from your Links page, it cannot be restored. You will have to create a new link.

  • Broken destination URL - The branded link could be fine, and the destination website or page could be down. Copy the destination URL from the link details and paste it into a browser to see if the website is up. Edit the link if you need to direct your visitors to another page.

  • Incorrect short link - Check if the link is mistyped or missing characters.

Rebrandly links stay active with a 99.99% reliability. You can always check our system status page to verify that our systems are functioning, or if there is an unlucky 0.01% moment.
