When your entire team uses URL parameters at the end of their links, it can be hard to ensure everyone is using consistent terminology. UTMs are the most common example of this, and big, complex spreadsheets are a common way to keep all your UTM parameters organized.
You can also use Rebrandly's presets and workspace settings to manage URL parameters and guide the team as they create their links.
UTM Presets are a set of parameter values that you save as a template, so if you often use source = facebook, medium = social, campaign = salesevent, you can create a preset called Facebook for all the fields to be added with one click. For more information, see: How do I create presets to save my frequently used UTM values?
You can set up UTM presets when you create or edit links, and you can also do it from the workspace settings. You can even add your own custom URL parameters for things like tracking custom variables, setting cookies, or affiliate information.
To manage URL parameters for a workspace:
Log in to Rebrandly.
Click Workspaces.
Select a workspace.
Click Manage URL parameters.
For each parameter, you can:
Click the Edit icon.
Select an item from the Paremeter type dropdown.
Click Add URL parameter if you want to add a new parameter, then add the label that your users will see and the key, which is be how the parameter is displayed in the URL.
Enable Presets to add the current items as templates for easy access when creating or editing links.
Enable Variables to add a selection of data that is automatically captured based on a visitor's browser information. For example, if you create a "cc" variable that uses {Country} data, and someone clicks the branded link from the UK, the destination URL could look like: https://www.website.com?cc=UK.
Variables will display as a dropdown when you're creating a link.
Click Done to save this preset.
