How do I create an API key?

Updated this week

You'll generate API keys to connect your account to other services, including social tools and MCP servers for AI assistants.

API keys allow external systems to access your account, so treat them as highly sensitive information.

To keep your account secure, it's recommended that you:

  • Label each key with a note to indicate where it is being shared.

  • Delete API keys for services that you no longer use.

  • Periodically rotate your API keys. Create a new one for a service, update the service with the new key, and then delete the old one.

To create a Rebrandly API key:

  1. Log in to Rebrandly.

  2. Click on your Profile Icon.

  3. Click API.

  4. Click New API key.

  5. Click Add notes and enter a description of what it is for or where you'll be using it, such as "Rebrandly MCP server."

  6. Click the three dots at the end of the row.

  7. Click Copy.

  8. Paste the API into the system where it is needed.
