If your branded domain supports SSL (https protocol) then you may want to share your custom short URLs (branded links) using Https:// and not just with Http://. This will improve the compatibility and trust for your links.
Rebrandly allows you to decide how the short links you create should be copied to your clipboard by default: with Http or Https.
If you wish to edit this for any reason, it is a specific domain setting and can be accessed from the in your account. Toggle the option on/off as you wish and every time you share a branded link with that domain from the Rebrandly Dashboard or from the Browser extension it will contain http/https by default based on your setting.

Is this feature only offered to people who bought their domains through rebrandly, or should everybody have access to it? My domain details page doesn't look like the one above - no expiry date, no autorenew options, and sadly no 'copy links with https'.
(But I do have 'HTTPS links' [support], 'DNS status' [correct], 'Landing page', and 'Delete domain', none of which are shown in the screenshot above.)
Thanks for your question. The Https for the links you copy/share is available for all domains whether you register the domain from Rebrandly of from another registrar. Anyway domains purchased from Rebrandly has additional features like the auto-renew.
Hi David,
I have a branded domain showinghero.us with https. I have also set 'Copy links with https' as on in Rebrandly console but still I am not getting short URL as https://showinghero.us/slug
Can you please let me know the reason for this? Do I need to mention this in API as well that I need 'https' with short URL?
I followed the instructions and set up an account with Cloudflare etc and everything was confirmed OK etc. Then I noticed that the CBSD links with https weren't working. I had to type the CBSD's without http or https for them to work. So, I turned off the setting in Rebrandly for SSL (copy links with https://). Now I noticed that the CBSD links work OK if I put http:// or https:// or neither! So, I'm a bit confused really.
@Puneet @Bryce, it takes some time (hours) for the Clouflare DNS to update. But then the links work perfectly with https. I just made a test with the showinghero.us domain and if fine!
@David Thanks, David, there was quite a few days between setting up Cloudflare and realising that the copied links didn't work.
Anyway, I guess really all I've done is changed the setting in Rebrandly but all that does is automatically add "https://" in front of the CBSD when copying it to the clipboard? So, really, if I can manually type in https:// first then it would seem to be working OK? Can you confirm? One of my CBSD's is mwg.nz/facebook
I saw somewhere that Rebrandly supporting SSL is on the development roadmap so hope it comes out soon! :)
@Bryce I confirm your link works with https. Also Please note that we will offer very soon (days) the SSL(https) by default (no settings/setup needed) included in paid plans.
Thanks @David
What's the downside if I promote my links without http:// or https:// ? For brevity and memorability, I'd like to just use e.g. mwg.nz/slashtag
If I turn on the https option in Rebrandly all it does is add https:// instead of http:// when copying to the clipboard right?
@Bryce, firstly you are correct, when you copy to clipboard (with Https turned on) your link will copy over with Https by default.
Using your example, if you are just sharing your link as described (mwg.nz/slashtag) there will be no difference for you.
However, we released this feature to ensure that when our users are creating shortened URLs for destinations that are Https that there is complete Https encryption and compatibility.
