Emojis in Links - Social Media Compatibility 👷

Rebrandly users can create branded links with emojis! Developing this feature has many technical challenges, so we are working hard making emoji-fied links compatible with all platforms.

The site CanIEmoji? displays the current status of native emoji support across iOS, Android, and Windows.

Emoji Charts is the list of all official emojis currently available

Here are some examples of emojis you might want to use in your links. Be aware though, if you cannot see them or if you see them as characters/ small squares, it means that your operating system or browser is not supporting emoji and you will not be able to use this feature:

Besides the compatibility with browsers and operating systems, you need to check the tool/service/social used to share your links. We made some tests and discovered that:

Currently, emojis are compatible with most platforms, like:

  • WhatsApp
  • WordPress
  • Facebook
  • iMail
  • Skype
  • Pinterest
  • Slack
  • Google Drive
  • Html 5
  • Gmail
  • YouTube

We run tests semi-regularly on these platforms to make sure emoji-fied links work optimally on all of them, but we cannot guarantee compatibility.

The goal is to make emoji-fied links work everywhere. However, we're still testing, optimizing, and reaching out to platforms to assist us in making this possible. It's only a matter of time 😀

If you have any feedback, please contact us- your feedback on this feature is really valuable!

IMPORTANT:
The above compatibility list also depends on which browser and operating system you are using. Most of the emoji aren't compatible with Windows 7. It's important that you test your emoji links with your system, with your recipients' system and the platform you're sharing them on.

    Hey David,

I love the idea of including Emoji in Rebrandly links. Have you considered including Emoji within the domain name space (before the dot)? This is a big opportunity for Rebrandly to continue to innovate within their product.

I would also double check some of those platform compatibilities... I know Facebook for example doesn't support Emoji in domains at this time.

I would love to discuss Emoji domains with you more!

    Best

    Eric
