If you have links that are already branded with your own domain name, you can transfer them to Rebrandly from Bitly quickly and easily. Please contact Rebrandly.Support/Contact to speak to our team about importing your links- we're here to help you through the process! 🚀
There are two ways you can import your Bitly links into Rebrandly.
Option 1:
- First, you need to get a full list of all of your branded links out of your Bitly account. Note that generic URLs (bit.ly links) cannot be imported to Rebrandly- only links created with a branded domain will transfer over.
- Check the file to make sure you don't have any duplicate short links, and ensure your links don't contain any special characters
- Add the domain name you have with your current provider into your Rebrandly account: Rebrandly.Support/SetupDNS
IMPORTANT: just add the domain name, you don't have to change DNS settings yet - Use our Google Sheet Add-on to or import feature to add all of your links
- Then you change the domain's DNS settings so they point to Rebrandly's servers. Please note that DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours to complete. During this timeframe, your links will continue working correctly, and when DNS propagation is completed it means the migration is finished
*Note that if you have a very high volume of links to import you should get in touch with us.
Option 2:
Our engineers can process a one-time import for you if you have a high number of links to import.
- You'll need to send us a CSV file according to this format: Rebrandly.Support/Import-Template
- As with the Google Sheet option, please check for duplicates and make sure you haven't included any special characters
- Add the domain name you have with your current provider into your Rebrandly account: Rebrandly.Support/SetupDNS
IMPORTANT: just add the domain name, you don't have to change DNS settings yet - Submit an import request for our team at Rebrandly.Support/Contact. Our team will handle the import and notify you when you can change the DNS settings to point to Rebrandly's servers.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT remove your custom domain from your Bitly dashboard until the import process has been completed.
Why would you want to import your Branded Bitly Links?
- To easily "upgrade" your links from static, fixed URL slugs and fixed destination URLs - to dynamic, easy-to-change URL slugs and easy-to-change destination URLs
- To better catalog all of your links under your Rebrandly dashboard
- To easily recreate or update old links with new UTM parameters
- For additional integration options

IMPORTANT:
Changing the DNS settings of your domain will affect the redirection of your existing Bitly branded links - They only work once the import process is finished.
